The Grateful Walk

Hello Everyone,

Lately, my "co-worker", Joshua, has been walking to work, or in his words- taking his "Grateful Walk", instead of taking the trolley.  During his "Grateful Walk", he reflects on things he is grateful for, such as having legs to walk with, having a job to support his raw cookie dough habit, and having eyes to see this beautiful pine cone like thing he left for me on my desk this morning.

While his "Grateful Walk" sounds very Thanksgiving oriented and a bit sappy, it is really just a way to put a positive spin on working in this poopy place.  The pine cone now sits on my desk below my monitor as a constant reminder that winter is coming, which really means my deadline for quitting this job is approaching, which makes me so excited I might go downstairs and get an wintery beverage from Starbucks.

Since I drive to work, I do not have the opportunity for a daily "Grateful Walk".  Instead, this afternoon I took my first "Grateful Elevator Ride".  I was already settling back into the bad mood I like to maintain while sitting at my desk- so my list of things I am grateful for wasn't incredibly positive.  I think I'll revise it now.

Things I Am Grateful For:

1.  My stuffed nose, because the guy in the elevator with me is the one that usually squeezes out a fart or two;

2.  Not getting the mail this morning, because now I can take five minutes to do it, five minutes in the mail room is five less minutes in the office;

3.  The money left over from lunch that Aaron gave me for my wintery beverage from Starbucks;

4.  My family;

5.  My kitties;

and

6.  My pine cone.

I will be adding to this list later, there is much more, but if I put it all down at once I won't have any material for tomorrow's "Grateful Elevator Ride".

Follow up on Getting Back to Business

Hello Everyone,

Here are a few things I left out...

1.  Actually make those embellished t-shirts that I have been meaning to make for the past 3 months.

2.  Make a few new displays.

and

3.  Find a good gift packaging method.

I'm sure I'll come up with more later.

Getting Back to Business

Hello Everyone,

I'm finally getting back to business and will be keeping up on my blog and my Etsy more.  I haven't blogged in months and haven't really put anything new up on Etsy in months either, and now I'm completely out of inventory, COMPLETELY.  After much complaining about my sucky job, I've decided to actually put forth effort into my Katrinka's business in hopes that I can soon ( hoping by the New Year) quit my job.  So, that said, I'm going to put my plans down in this blog to keep track in a timeline sort of way.  Hopefully this will also help me since now instead of just me knowing about it, all of you know about it, this means YOU-- my six followers!!!

1.  I WILL be getting my new order of business cards by October 21st.  I WILL be that annoying person that leaves their business cards at local coffee shops and restaurants in hopes that someone will go to my Etsy or website and check things out, and then buy some stuff!

2.  I WILL have atleast 75 new items made by October 29th so I can be ready for the next Macaroni Club on October 30th.

3.  I WILL have my husband take really good photos of some of the new items, if he's willing, so I can update my photos and also get cracking on making some photo books and a new template for my business cards since I WILL be out of them because I WILL leave them  in so many places.

4.  I WILL contact 5 new boutiques by November 24th about carrying my items.  My items are currently for sale at Maisonnette and Make Good, but if I want to quit my day job I'm going to have to be in some more stores.

5.  I WILL have atleast 100 items available by November 26th so I can have a full looking booth for the November 27th craft fair at the Children's Museum hosted by Make Good.  I don't know much about this event yet, but it will be a daytime event with local artists, crafters, and musicians.

and 6.  I WILL update this tomorrow with anything I forgot.

Within the hour it took me to put together this blog post (I'm secretly doing this at work- so it took a while) 3 things have happened that only strengthen my desire to leave this place...

1.  The attorney that rents a space in our office started loudly bragging about meeting "hot german chicas" and going "clubbin" with them, yes he's in his late 40's, yes he's married, yes his wife is at home with their baby.

2.  My ex boss, who I now just have to see every day rather than answer to, just strolled in with his mistress.  They began talking loudly about how she got caught naked (and having sex) in this very office one weekend by one of the other attorneys about 8 feet away from me and then glared at me and turned their backs when they realized that I am in fact alive, have ears, and can clearly hear their conversation.  Yes his wife is at home with 5 kids, yes her husband is at home with atleast 2 kids, maybe three, but whatever.

and 3.  The D-Bag in #1 just put the red throw pillows from the couch in the entry way of our office on my desk.  (The red throw pillows were previously used by my ex boss for lumbar support in the scenario described in #2.)

I WILL be quitting this job.

Yours Truly,
Katrinkas
